The original membrane that was not manufactured by Sioen and not printed by Printable was replaced in 2016 due to fading of the ink. They opted for a fully new membrane and chose our Type 2 Facade mesh that was printed by Printable.

For the Fricke Saphir project, the textile membranes weren’t installed on separate panels, but they were tensioned at the outer edges of the building’s face. This type of textile facade system is the most lightweight solution, as you don’t have additional weight of panels.

Our membranes are manufactured at a 3 metre width. Using high frequency welding, the fabrics are then assembled with seams. That way, a curtain wall is created that covers the entire surface of the upper floor.

A retail shop of The Fricke and Saphir Group is situated at the bottom of the building, while the offices are wrapped by the membrane structure. The visually attractive membrane also enhances the well-being of the people working there, as natural light can still shine on their desks and the tensile membrane has anti-glare properties. Of course, solar management is also a major advantage of a tensile facade. While cooling down the inside temperatures, the facade also protects the original front of the building from harmful sunrays.

The German advertising company Sign Ware designed and installed the textile facade. They used a steel substructure and their Screen-Age™ clamping system. For the installation, an adapted mesh support was printed, using a UV- and temperature resistant technology. The keders were slided in the rails and tensioned on site.

Seybold Düren is a German company that delivered the substructure and the facade cladding with the print. They ordered the print at Printable.

The hell red design is clearly visible from a distance and was realised by Printable, a Dutch company famous for its eye-catching prints on facade architectural membranes.

The Fricke Group is a Germany-based wholesale company that offers agricultural machinery to specialised dealers, while Saphir is a brand of agricultural machinery.
